Life is not measured by what others think, but the impact you leave.
You are more than a time, a grade, or a picture.
There is more to life than running and scholarships.
Homecoming groups, picture days, and football games don’t matter as much as you might think.
No one cares if you have a witty instagram caption because shouldn’t you want to make people laugh in real life instead of over a screen?
There are going to be challenges, hard ones too. Regardless, you should look to them with a smile on your face and arms open wide. Be thankful for them because they shape you into who you will become and I promise, will build you up.
There will be tears and sadness, feelings hurt, and occasionally your cheeks might get pink from embarrassment. After these times make sure to remember those who helped and guided you out. When you don’t feel like talking to anyone, look for the person in the room who needs a friend. You may never know how badly they might need it
Do the dishes.
Ask your mom how her day was before she gets the chance to ask you first.
Put your phone down when you are with your little cousins. Your example and relationship mean one hundred times more to them than you realize.
Build your siblings up because you can see their potential better than anyone else. They truly are your built-in best friends.
Be open with your parents. They love you so much and it can be easy to overlook that sometimes.
Your self worth should not be measured by how fast you can run.
You are worth a whole lot more than how “bad you want it” compared to those around you.
Work hard but also try to enjoy the process a little more. A wise person once said, “All the accolades in the world mean nothing if you don’t enjoy the experience.”
I end this the same way I started because it is so so important to remember:
Life is not measured by what others think, but the impact you leave.
Always,
Emma
